Mugshot PhD student at Middlesex University, London. I am attempting to determine what factors affect players' levels of engagement with videogames.

Welcome to my web site. I hope to keep this site up to date with my research findings such that anyone who is interested can see what I'm up to.

During September I was engaged in a number of activities. On the 3rd Hanna Stelmaszewska and myself organised and ran a one day workshop entitled Researching User Engagements with Technology. The presentations and various photographs can be found at this link (follow "More Photos" on that page for some pictures including a picture of my very loud shirt). I would again like to thank all those who attended and participated, I hope we can do it again sometime.
Later in the month I presented a paper, co-authored by my supervisor Bob Fields, to the twelfth European Conference on Cognitive Ergonomics (ECCE 12). The reference to this paper, and an extended abstract can be found on the publications page of my site. This was an excellent, intimate conference where much of interest was discussed.

In May I presented a Paper (draft) at the Game Design Research Symposium and Workshop, Copenhagen, May 2004.
Thanks to the organisers for staging an excellent event, and special thanks to Jussi Holopainen and his employers Nokia for paying for Saturday's dinner.

Last November I attended the Level up conference in the Netherlands. This was the first conference of the Digital Games Research Association (DiGRA). I'll include the poster I presented in the publications section (not quite a publication, but that's the best place for it), and might put some photos somewhere at some point too.

In case you were wondering why this page looks so simple, well there are 2 reasons. The first reason is that I'm not a Graphic Designer. While the second reason is that I don't buy into the thinking that something has to look fancy to be good (this is an information site remember). So if this page is rubbish, it's independent of what it looks like.

Thanks:

Other than thanking my supervisor Bob Fields for his advice (Get something up and then evolve it) I must thank: StrangeBanana StrangeBanana as it helped create this site.
