- Journey
Enabling Information Systems for the Elderly and Disabled
- Several
members of the group are involved in a pilot project to explore
the gap between information provided and that the disabled and elderly
believe would make a difference in helping them be mobile.

Systematic Basis for Developing Cognitive Assessment Methods for
Assistive Technology
- Ray
Adams is collaborating with the University of Cambridge to develop
ways to assess the acquired cognitive impairment of people in a
way that allows appropriate assistive technology to be provided.
A conceptual model and systematic method have been developed and
test elements proposed and validated.

Systems for the Hard of Hearing
- Carl
Reynolds' PhD research is looking at how the perceived sound quality
of multimedia systems can be improved. One application of this work
is in improving sound quality for the hard of hearing.

Icons
- Gill
Whitney is involved in the standardisation process for sound icons.
Multimodalty Evaluation of a Robot for the Disabled
- As
a case study for her PhD research on the evaluation of multimodal
interactive systems, Jo Hyde evaluated a Robotic system designed
to provide help for severely disabled people.
- Design
and Evaluation of User-centred Digital Libraries
- This
project funded by EPSRC and led by Yin Leng Theng investigated fundamental
design and usability issues underlying digital libraries. It is
specifically concerned with the design of Digital Libraries aimed
at children.
