Title: Living on the Edge: is the Edge Environment the future of the Internet?

Abstract: Edge and fog computing have been used to enhance traditional
Client/Server computing. However, with the emergence of Connected and
Autonomous Vehicles and Smart IoT platforms for Smart Cities, it is
now thought that the Edge Environment should become the default
computing, networking and service platform for Future Internet. Many
people now see this as the next stage of the evolution of the Internet
and hence building this Intelligent Edge Environment has become an
exciting area of research. This talk looks at the challenges of such
an endeavour, the mechanisms being developed as well as the role of AI
and Machine Learning techniques in this research effort.
