Abstract:

In this presentation, I will introduce the project of MRIAGE (Middlesex medical Image Repository with a CBIR Archiving Environment) funded by JSIC, and show the demo for retrieving 2D medical images from the repository using the method of Content-Based Image Retrieval (CBIR). CBIR can index an image using visual contents that an image is carrying, such as colour, texture, shape and location. These features can automatically be extracted from an image that can be employed to index them. Similarities between these features are in need to be defined using relative search/matching functions to perform retrieval. Finally I will present some research results about CBIR for 3D brain images.
