Abstract

This presentation focuses on the MUSKET project. The project aim is to develop and deliver a software application that will support employer engagement and workforce planning requirements by providing a CRM based integrated view of employer based, professional and tertiary sector education. The objectives of the project are:

• to deliver models that will span employer engagement and course information in a unified and integrated manner:

• to deliver two software tools:

1. one that will allow non-technical specialists to import MS Word documents containing course descriptions, provide semantic mark-up, and export into the JISC XCRI-CAP standard creating a database;

2. one that will support employer-led learner route planning.

The Musket transform tool gets data usually from curriculum documents and / or from companies. The import function will allow non-technical specialists to import MS Word documents containing course descriptions, provide semantic mark-up, and export the contents into the JISC XCRI (eXchange Course Related Information) – Course Advertising Profile standard creating a database. In this case study, the import file is the doc file from the university and describes the module information. The Musket semantic tool will read the XCRI file ( using Xml 2 OWL application), and output the different owl files of each course. The tool will compare the semantic similarity between courses or modules.
