Abstract
Artificial
Intelligence (AI) is a broad area of computer science which deals
with making intelligent machines, often computer programs inspired
by intelligence in biological organisms. Intelligence arises from
the interplay of many billion neurons in the brain. The aim of this
thesis is to create a functional implementation of human memory,
following the biological model as closely as possible. Current work
involves simulating memory by using groups of neurons called 'Cell
Assemblies', which are believed to be the basis of many cognitive
processes.
