Conference on Biomedical Applications of Electrical Impedance Tomography, University College London, June 22 – 24th, 2005.
Provisional scientific
programme 6th international conference on Biomedical Applications of
EIT.
Location.
The conference will take place in central London, in locations all close to University College London (UCL), London WC1 (www.ucl.ac.uk). Our intention is to make it a relaxed, informal and enjoyable three days; all the locations are within easy walking distance, so that it will be easy to return to your accommodation or have an informal discussion over coffee or a beer away from the lecture theatre.
Registration, lunch and tea and coffee breaks will take place in the Old Refectory, UCL. This room will be available throughout the conference. Please see attached map below for instructions to reach UCL and then the Old Refectory.
Formal talks will take place in the Anatomy Lecture Theatre, UCL. UCL is in an attractive part of London, near to the West End. Oxford Street, a main shopping street, and Soho and the theatre district are about ten minutes’ walk away.
Travel arrangements.
The nearest Underground stations are Goodge Street or Warren Street (Northern Line), Euston Square (Metropolitan, Circle and Hammersmith & City Lines), or Euston (Northern and Victoria Lines), (all 5 minutes’ walk or less).
From Heathrow airport, the easiest way to reach the conference is to take the Underground Piccadilly Line to Leicester Square. Change there to the Northern Line, and get off at Goodge Street.
From Gatwick airport, take the Gatwick express train to Victoria Station. This takes about 40 minutes. From there, take the Victoria Underground Line and get off at Euston; it is then about a 5 minute walk to UCL.
Conference Fees
If you are paying a conference or additional accommodation fee and have not made payment prior to the conference, please bring a cheque (UK), cash, or an international money order with you to registration on Wednesday (please see details on registration below). The cheque or money order should be made out to University College London. Payment must be made before the conference starts. We regret we do not have credit card facilities.
Most
delegates will be staying in Ramsay Hall, 20, Maple Street, London W1. This is a student residence about 5 minutes’
walk from the King and Queen. Rooms are
simple but clean and comfortable. Soap
and a hand towel are provided; if you
prefer a bath towel, please bring one with you. Breakfast will be provided at Ramsay Hall.
Weather and clothing (for
foreign participants).
Weather in London in June should be warm but may be changeable – it may be cool, so be sure to bring some warmer as well as lighter summer clothes. Dress at the conference will be informal, and smart casual for the two dinners, which will be in central London restaurants. Please note – you will need to walk outside to move between the Lecture Theatre, evening restaurants, and residence, so please bring a raincoat or umbrella in case it rains.
Audio-visual facilities.
Dual slide projection, video and a LCD projector will be available.
Speakers are required to keep to time – all talks are allotted 15 minutes; please aim to talk for 10 minutes to allow time for questions. Please do not use too many or too detailed slides – a maximum of one slide per minute – i.e. a maximum of 12 – is a useful guideline. A “traffic light” system will be used to ensure timekeeping – a green light goes on at 10 minutes, amber at 11 and red at 12 !
