
Semantic Network representations
A semantic network represents knowledge as a set of nodes connected by labelled arcs. The arcs represent the relationships between the nodes. Figure 1.03 illustrates a simple semantic network.

The network supports inheritance. A Mini City is a vehicle and has an engine. This network indicates that each Mini City is white and has four seats and that all Ford Transit vans are also white but have two seats only. Inferences are made following the arcs between nodes.
