Knowledge
Transfer Partnerships (KTP) benefits
British businesses and knowledge
bases (universities, research
institutions and colleges) by:
- Assigning a
KTP associate (university graduate)
to work with a partnership business
for 1-3 years on an agreed project,
whilst still under the supervision
of the knowledge base. This
ensures fresh research knowledge
is transferred into the business,
increasing its producitivity
and competitiveness.
- Providing graduates
with practical work experience
as well as structured academic
courses which can lead to various
qualifications such as an NVQ
in management.
The
KTP product is administered by
Faringdon-based, Technology Transfer
& Innovation (TTI). All approved
Knowledge Transfer Partnerships
are part-funded by the Government
(eleven government organisations
led by DTI) and can enable each
business to work with a university,
college or research organisation
that has expertise relevant to
your business and can help you
increase profitability.
A
number of successful KTP programmes,
previously known as Teaching Company
Schemes (TCS), have been completed
with the TCS Programme 3780 between
UMIST and Chemical Nutritional
Products Ltd gaining a Grade 2
score for its "Assessment
of Knowlegde Transfger Partnership
Final Report".
