Network Systems
Research Areas: The design, implementation, deployment and evaluation of networked systems including computer architectures using networking technology such as clusters, new network services such as Network Memory Servers, and new network architectures and applications. This group would include the simulation and analytical modelling of such systems as well as the development of performance analysis, benchmarking and monitoring techniques.

Mobile and Wireless Systems:
Research Areas: All aspects of mobile and wireless communications systems including the design, implementation and deployment of new mobile and wireless networks, the analysis of Radio channels, propagation techniques and MAC access algorithms. Mobility management issues (including vertical handover) in wireless systems, support for higher level protocols and applications. Standardization and policy issues in the deployment of wireless and mobile architecutures.

Computer and Network Security:
Research Areas: All aspects including cryptography, intruder detection, firewalls, modelling of attacks,etc. Also key management, IPSec and new security frameworks. The deployment of security algorithms in commerical environments as well as standardization and policy issues in computer and network security.
