TITLE: From bridges to brains: an overview of Bullmore and Sporns (2009) 'Complex brain networks: graph theoretical analysis of structural and functional systems' SPEAKER: Emma Byrne ABSTRACT: A recent review by Bullmore and Sporns highlights the relevance of graph theory to biology in general and to neuroscience in particular. By identifying the types of networks commonly found in brains it is possible to say more about how these networks develop, and how they occasionally go wrong. The talk will begin with a high level introduction to/review of graph theory. It will then highlight some of the results that Bullmore and Sporns review in their paper.
