TITLE: Modelling visuomotor processing in human interactions for improving robot social skills SPEAKER: : Eris Chinellato (Middlesex University) ABSTRACT: This interdisciplinary talk illustrates the bidirectional link between cognitive science and robotics research in the modelling of social interactions. I will first present state of the art cognitive science results on the visuomotor processes involved in social interactions in humans. I will then offer some hypotheses on the neural mechanisms underlying the observed phenomena, and discuss related modelling efforts. I will consider the impact these can have on human robot interaction, and in turn on the understanding of neural functions and the evolution of social behaviour.
