Mark Woodman

Professor Woodman’s background is in software engineering, software quality management systems and new approaches to software development. He has led a team which received a 1998 BCS IT Award, and a Design Council Millennium Product award, for an innovative course on object technology systems. The team’s work was referred to in a report of the Parliamentary Committee on Science and Technology. He was Programme Co-chair of TOOLS Europe 2000, a programme committee member of OOPSLA 99, and convenor of the ISO Working Group that produced the 700-page formal definition of Modula-2. He has given numerous invited presentations and national media interviews. Current research uses ethnography and discourse analysis to study software practitioners and their cultures.
