John is engaged in research into the computerised generation of fiction, and related areas. This involves knowledge representation, rhetorical structure, and natural language generation, among other issues. He also has some research interest in the computer simulation of flocking and herding behaviour, and the application of knowledge-based systems to legal reasoning.
