MSc Project Management Practice

Project management has become a key competence for most organisations in the public and private sectors. Driven by recent business trends such as fewer management layers, greater flexibility, increasing geographical distribution and more project-based work, project management has grown beyond its roots in the construction, engineering and aerospace industries to transform the service, financial, computer, and general management sectors.

Course overview
The MSc offers a multidisciplinary introduction to the theory and practice of managing and leading projects. Students come from a variety of backgrounds and environments and throughout the course will gain exposure to new perspectives, approaches, frameworks and ideas.

The programme is designed for graduates who are looking to move into project management, and for practitioners interested in deepening and widening their competence, expertise and professional practice.

Structure
Students study five modules:

  • Managing Projects
  • Leading Projects
  • Managing Professional Development

  • Work-Based Dissertation

'Managing Projects' and 'Leading Projects' form the new Advanced Diploma Project Management Practice, which can be studied separately.

Study Pattern
The course is part-time and will take a minimum of 21 months to complete.

Attendance and Assessment
The programme is constructed in block release format, combined with additional work and assessment, in order to allow students in full time employment to complete the course. There are no exams.

Entry requirements
The programme is designed for working professionals; it is part-time, with taught units on campus, and e-learning.
