If

you.
Aims
and Objectives
The MSc Managing Major Projects and Programmes addresses the increasing
need for highly capable project and programme managers who will
become the leading project professionals in their organisations.
The aim of the MSc is that its graduates will be qualified to manage
the most complex programmes, skilled enough to run cross-discipline
business and technical projects and become experts in the politics
and processes of the project and programme community. The MSc concentrates
on areas of projects and programmes that need excellent management
to ensure success, and is a highly application-focused course that
returns immediate value to the professional environments of its
students.
The
course, designed by the National Centre for Project Management at
Middlesex University and CITI
(APM Accredited Training Provider), is suitable for experienced
programme and project managers working in any industry.
Structure
The
course is structured as a set of seven modules which require you
to attend some taught units, during which current practices, and
a project or programme you are managing, are analysed. The taught
units are supported by distance learning materials which allow you
to extend your understanding of key areas. High-impact workshops,
lectures and syndicate exercises are used to provide access to,
and input from, tutors who are practising programme and project
managers with a passion for teaching.
You will study the following modules:

Emphasis
is placed on topics that are critical to the success of major projects
and programmes.

Study
Pattern
The course is part-time.
It is possible to complete the MSc in two years, but typically it
will take two to three years. The course start dates are scheduled
throughout the year. If required, this course can also be delivered
as an in-company run.
In
order to be awarded MSc Managing Major Projects and Programmes,
students must successfully complete all seven modules.
Early step-off points: Students completing modules 1 - 3 will
be awarded PG Cert Managing Major Projects. Students
completing modules 1 - 6 will be awarded PG Dip Managing Major Projects
and Programmes.
Attendance
There are 21 compulsory contact teaching days, which are grouped
into blocks of two to four days and spread over a two-year period.
Assessment
A combination of reflective work-based assignments encouraging you
to apply concepts, tools and techniques to your own projects; a
learning diary, a research proposal and a dissertation. There are
no exams.
Entry requirements
The programme is designed for working professionals; it is a part-time
programme with taught units and e-learning. It is expected that
participants would normally hold a good first degree and have at
least three years’ experience in managing small to medium
projects. Those without a suitable academic qualification will need
substantial management experience to gain an experience-only entry
onto the course.
Proof
of English Language competency is required from all EU and international
applicants. The minimum IELTS level accepted by Middlesex University
is 6.5 or a TOEFL grade of 575 (paper-based test) or 237 (computer-based
test).

fee
The course fee for the full MSc is £12,850; this fee excludes
accommodation, travel and subsistence costs incurred when attending
contact teaching days, which are held at designated conference centres.
The
next course will begin on 5 October 2010.
