Advanced
Diploma Project Management Practice
An
intensive seven-month course offering in-depth coverage of project
management principles and approaches. The aim of the Advanced Diploma
is to develop project management knowledge and skills. The programme
focuses on both the management and the leadership aspects in projects.
The
course will consolidate existing skills and give the student an
introduction to the core principles of project management. Students
will study theory and practice of leadership as well as developing
leadership skills and competencies.
Course
overview
The programme is specifically designed for anyone with an interest
in how projects are managed and can also be taken as a bridge to
further learning at postgraduate level. Graduates of the programme
may proceed to the MSc Project Management
Practice, carrying forward their accumulated credits.
Structure
The
Advanced Diploma comprises two modules: Managing Projects
and Leading Projects. The course begins with an
induction session which introduces learners to the facilities available
to learning in the workplace. The material covers the extended project
management process from inception through to operation and beyond
whilst also emphasising the skills and competencies needed to lead,
influence, and deliver in an increasingly demanding and dynamic
environment.

Pattern,
Attendance
and Assessment

The
course is part-time with taught units and e-learning
and is structured to match the needs of learners in full-time employment.
There are twelve contact teaching days, which are delivered in monthly
two-day blocks on campus over the duration of the course and combined
with additional work and assessment. There are no exams.
Entry
requirements
The programme is designed for those with professional experience
in project management and can provide an entry point to the MSc
in Project Management Practice. Typically, applicants will have
practical project management experience and an ordinary degree,
HND qualification or equivalent.
You
must have competence in English language. The most common English
Language requirements for international students are IELTS 6.5 or
TOEFL (paper based) 575 or TOEFL (internet based) 90 with specified
minimum scores for each component. For details of other equivalent
